Welcome, and thank you for visiting Kingfisher Counselling.

Choosing to come for counselling is an important step, so the information here is to help you make the decision about whether to contact me as your counsellor.

Qualified & Accredited

My name is Meryl Hargreaves and I am an experienced Registered counsellor working from a person-centred perspective in Hucclecote,  GL3 on the outskirts of Gloucester and within easy reach of Cheltenham. I work with adults and couples, aged 18+ (Couples can include any two people in a relationship, married couples and partners in a relationship but could be siblings or a parent plus an adult child).

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I am bound by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice which includes requirements for regular supervision and continued professional development. I have professional indemnity insurance and Disclosure and Barring Service clearance. (DBS)

I am also an accredited member of the National Counselling Society.

I am listed on the Counselling Directory and in Psychology Today.

In addition to private practice I counselled for many years at an agency providing support for a wide range of issues. This included people referred from their GP practice, the local mental health team and self referrals. Currently I also provide counselling to those affected by pregnancy related issues at a local charity.

You may be able to identify something that is causing you distress or you may be dissatisfied with aspects of your life and want to change. I work with people who have identified various mental health issues. If you are concerned about depression, work-related or family issues (or other topics) counselling can help you change, develop and cope with what has happened. I would like to work alongside you, offering you a safe place to talk without any judgement and supporting you along your journey so you can live the best that you possibly can.

Please look around the site where you will find the answers to your questions. There is more about my approach to counselling on the Counselling page, and Working Together gives information about what happens during counselling sessions. When you are ready to book an initial counselling session or you would like to contact me please go to the Practicalities page.

I look forward to hearing from you.
